Mike has forty years of business experience in the financial area. He is a former CPA and Chief Financial Officer for a successful private business. He was also on staff at Calvary Church, Charlotte, N.C. for nine years as the Director of Financial Services. He is currently retired but remains active as a financial consultant. Mike serves as NLMA’s Vice-President and Treasurer. He has made three trips to Nairobi to observe and participate in the ministry of Kibera New Life Church (KNLC). He and his wife Margie reside in Indian Land, SC and are the parents of Andy and Emily and grandparents of Evan and Sam.
Jim Brewer
God called Jim to short-term mission work starting in 2004. Jim and his wife Maggie and their children took their first mission trip to Brazil. Jim and Maggie have been to Kenya and worked as short-term volunteers, four times, for three-month stays in 2005, 2011, 2015, and 2017 where they worked alongside Julio and Angelica Quirino in the Kibera Slum. Now retired, Jim worked in the aerospace industry for Eastman Kodak Company for 35 years as an electrical engineer. He lives with his wife of 37 years, Maggie, in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. He and Maggie are members of the Bethel Assemblies of God Church. Jim serves as the chairman of the board of directors for NLMA.
Maggie Brewer
Maggie worked for Kodak for eleven years and then retired to stay home with her two children. She worked in schools with children with disabilities and also for years caring for the elderly and still does this in her life. She was a small business owner and made mustard for ten years in which most profits went to missions work locally and overseas. Maggie continues to stay active in her church and community serving the Lord and others wholeheartedly. Maggie and her husband have four children between them and six grandchildren. Recently, they moved from NY to PA to be closer to their children and two grandchildren. Maggie and Jim say they are not retired; they are re-fired for the Lord. Maggie serves as the recording secretary of the board of directors for NLMA.
Peggy is retired from over 30 years of experience in administration in the federal government. She came to the Lord in her early twenties and has a heart for helping people come to fullness in Christ. She has two married sons and four grandchildren. She is active in her church and is involved in various areas of service, particularly prayer ministry. Peggy became acquainted with NLMA through friends, Jim and Maggie Brewer. Over the years she has had a particular interest in the Kibera ministries, especially God's Grace Kibera Academy.
Julio and Angelica Quirino have been serving the Lord in Kenya since 2000. Their ministry has been directed toward unreached people groups and also to the people in the Kibera slums. Their ministry in Kibera began in 2009. In 2015 they planted the Kibera New Life Church (KNLC) in the outskirts of the slums. KNLC is a missionary church, supporting missionaries and training many for ministry as well as serving the needs of the residents of Kibera. Recently Julio and Angelica have relocated to the eastern coast of Kenya. Now living and serving in Mombasa, the Quirinos are working as Mobilizers under the auspices of Africa Inland Mission. Their passion is to work with and disciple African Christians who feel called to missions. The Quirinos have more than 30 years of experience in the discipleship of indigenous peoples. It is their mission to see those whom they have discipled to continue developing their talents and gifts to serve the Lord in their communities and beyond. They have two children, Raquel and Samuel. Raquel and her husband Jaime have been blessed with a daughter Xenia, who came into the world in December of 2019. Angelica and Julio continue always to care about the community in Kibera and many of their disciples keep in close communication with them.
